In Varanasi there is a chronic shortage of qualified school teachers. We work in three government schools to combat this by providing teachers.
Our priority is reading and writing – providing basic education, we have seven teachers teaching about 350 children.
The teachers we have trained are local women who have reached a certain level of education but who have not had opportunities to have formal vocational training. We give these women the opportunity to develop their potential by receiving teacher training one day a week.
Varanasi Children’s Hospital Program pay the teachers’ salary, organise training and monitor our teachers.
This program costs in the region of €10 per child per year. To donate please click here.
